The people - intelligent people, collaborating together in smart ways to bring products to life Our purpose - every day we work at IDE is an opportunity to build better futures Variety of projects available About the role We are seeking a Engineering Lead/Product and Systems Manager with a passion for entrepreneurship and design, and a desire to create great new products and services, and get them to market.
The Engineering Lead/Product and Systems Manager takes the role of Product Lead in IDE product development projects.
The Engineering/Product Lead is responsible for providing technical vision for the product and leading the technical team to execute the project.
The Engineering/Product Lead works with Project Lead to ensure we create valuable ventures, products and services by balancing quality, time and budget.
The Engineering Lead/Product and Systems Manager works with the Business Unit Director to ensure the Business Unit and project teams have the technical capabilities and resources required to execute planned product development projects.
Product Leadership – Work with the Business Unit Director and Client to challenge the brief and identify valuable problems / solutions.
Lead technical resources (Designers, Engineers and other specialties) to complete activities (value proposition design, concepting, detailed design, V/V) that create valuable new ventures, products and services.
Project Planning – Work with the project lead to define solutions that are desirable / feasible / viable in the context of the venture.
Assist the project lead to plan and estimate the project by giving input to the required activities and resources to achieve the project aim.
Technical Execution - Selects or modifies the most appropriate processes and methods to apply in PD activities.
Defines the appropriate level of quality for PD Outputs and Outcomes and ensures it is achieved.
Risk Management – Identifies and manages Product Risks appropriately, with effective controls implemented.
Provide input to the Project Lead to identify and manage project risk.
Review and Approvals - Ensure effective Technical Reviews for PD activities are conducted as planned.
Co-ordinates and conducts effective System Level Design Reviews.
Mentor and coach others.
About you Skills and Experience:
A degree in Engineering, Design, or other appropriate technical discipline.
Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in an R&D environment.
Experience in applying sound engineering methodology (systems approach), and an ability to communicate intent, approach and value to others.
Experience in estimating development effort for the purpose of project planning and making commitments to stakeholders.
Experience working in compliance with Quality Management Systems (ISO9001, ISO13485, GMP or similar) in regulated industry (Medical Device preferred).
Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (inc Powerpoint & Project), CAD software (preferably Solidworks and/or Creo/Pro-e), FEA software.
