Maverick is part of the For The Love Hospitality group, run by sibling duo, Adam and Elisa Mariani.
We've been creating since 2012, with other venues Greta and Elio's Place in the Melbourne CBD.
Maverick is located in the 80 Collins precinct which has become a go-to culinary centre in Melbourne.
We bring a sophisticated breakfast and lunch menu with a modern flare.
We serve locally roasted coffee, espresso and a small wine and cocktail offering, 7 days a week.
About the role
The cafe manager oversees all aspects of operating the venue while ensuring a high standard of customer service.
You'll work closely with the front of house and kitchen teams to foster a cohesive work environment and inspire welcoming hospitality at all times.
Daytime and weekend availability is essential.
Key responsibilities
Leadership: Recruit, develop and lead a motivated team dedicated to delivering a high level of service.
Operations: Oversee daily operations including rostering, stock control, and stakeholder management to ensure efficiency and profitability.
Manage financial budgets, identify opportunities to build revenue growth.
Monitor food and beverage quality and consistency through regular inspections and training.
Guest experience: Offer each guest attentive and personalised service.
Address any issues promptly and professionally.
Community and culture: Cultivate a sense of community; work closely with all departments to deliver memorable dining experiences and a cohesive team.
Build positive relationships with the wider community so as to encourage engagement.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with food safety standards, company policies, occupational health and safety standards.
Skills & Experience
2+ years venue management experience in a similar setting.
A genuine passion for food and beverage, and warm and welcoming hospitality.
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a dynamic group and foster a strong service team.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Experience working in fast-paced service with the ability to adapt.
A talent for identifying opportunities for growth, and initiative to implement them.
Detail oriented, strong organisational and problem solving skills.
Strong coffee preparation and service skills essential.
Bar experience advantageous.
