As a subject matter expert with demonstrated practical experience in metallurgy, your primary role will be to provide technical expertise in the sustainment of ANSTO's nuclear infrastructure and nuclear operations.
There will be opportunities to contribute to the underpinning research programs through your expertise and specialised physical metallurgical advice.
The role draws on your extensive industrial experience in failure analysis of materials and structures, as well as in materials testing and characterisation.
Knowledge of radiation damage to materials or nuclear relevant experience will be highly valued.

Your Duties and Responsibilities
Provide metallurgical expertise to internal stakeholders in the form of failure analysis and materials compatibility advice.
Lead through demonstrated practice, the technical delivery of key projects or tasks within projects: acquiring test data, analysing results and communicating metallurgical advice to both internal and external stakeholders.
Lead and foster teamwork to deliver projects within the Materials Testing Capability Group, providing materials testing and guidance on technical performance of materials using standard and novel test methods.
Lead authorship of Technical / Engineering reports of metallurgical related projects, and in some cases, also provide certification of reports by team members.
Develop a national and international reputation for excellence in your field of expertise, through producing technical reports and research outcomes that are published in refereed journals where appropriate.
Participate in negotiations aimed at reaching well-defined technical work scopes with clients, project leaders and other stakeholders.
Work in a highly collaborative way to build and maintain ongoing productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
