General/Business Unit Manager (CEO & General Management) MusicACT is the peak body for the music industry in the ACT, supporting all aspects of the music sector through advocacy, resources, and professional development.
MusicACT connects musicians and industry professionals, drives policy changes with government and business, and champions an inclusive, accessible music industry.
As the representative member of the Australian Music Industry Network (AMIN), MusicACT connects local industry professionals to national resources and expertise.
Who We Seek MusicACT is seeking an experienced, proactive, and well-connected leader to drive our strategic vision.
The right candidate will have significant arts management experience, strong project management and organizational skills, and a deep understanding of the ACT music industry.
This role is perfect for a mid- to late-career professional with an established network and a love for diverse music in the ACT.
Position Description As the Music ACT Director, you will:
Lead the strategic direction and oversight of MusicACT's programs.Manage organizational compliance, budget planning, and reporting.Directly supervise the 2-day per week Program Manager, overseeing their execution of monthly professional development events.Liaise with stakeholders, including ArtsACT, the Minister, and local musicians and industry professionals.Coordinate communications and marketing strategies to elevate MusicACT's visibility.Manage and organise the Music ACT Committee meetings, including an AGM.Oversee planning and production of the annual MusicACT Music Awards, our largest event of the year.Selection Criteria Proven organizational and management skills, with the ability to independently manage self-imposed deadlines.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.Experience designing and implementing innovative and impactful programs.Demonstrated passion for ACT and Australian live music.Strong local music industry network and experience.A reliable self-starter with strong project management skills.Additional Information This is a flexible, part-time role: 3 days a week, working from home.
Competitive hourly rate and an opportunity to directly impact Canberra's music scene.
Salary is 0.6 FTE (24 hours per week) at $45 per hour which is approximately $56,160.
For a full-time equivalent (FTE) role, this would correspond to an annual salary of $93,600.
