This position will be instrumental in operating the new and innovative After-hours Service within the Services for Children and Families portfolio.
This is a Department built entirely for children and young people and their communities.
Our ultimate goal is to work together to ensure that every child and young person in Tasmania is known, safe, well, and learning.

About the RoleThe After-Hours Service is designed to deliver services to build safety where risk is present, provide help and support to resolve issues and/or prevent escalation, and be responsive to the needs of our children and young people in care, outside of standard business hours.
Duties IncludeProviding leadership and support to the After-Hours Service team and together respond to incoming enquiries within the service using key policies and procedures across emergent and critical after-hours responses.*Please see the Statement of Duties for a complete overview of the duties.
Conditions of EmploymentSalary: $106,966 to $118,114 pro rata per annum + 11.5% SuperannuationClassification: Allied Health Professional Level 3Award/Agreement: Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages AgreementLocation: South (Hobart), North (Launceston) and North-West (Ulverstone)Hours of Work: This is a shift-based role and includes a combination of day, afternoon and night work, including availability for call-out as rostered.If successful, you must be available to complete approximately 3 months of full-time (Mon-Fri 8:30am -5pm) paid training.

You will need to:Have sound self-management skills, self-awareness, and emotional maturity, with the ability to understand the personal impacts of child safety work and related strategies for managing stress, building resilience, and the ability to grow and nurture these qualities in others.Genuine motivation and passion to work with children, young people and their families.Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to change your communication style, remain calm, de-escalate, and manage conflicts.Ability to quickly build rapport and relationships with stakeholders (including families and young people) over the phone and in person.Value working as a member of a team and contributing to a positive team environment.Commitment to self-care, continuous improvement, learning and practice reflection.Individual resilience, emotional intelligence, and the ability to self-reflect.A tertiary qualification approved by the relevant National Board, for example a Bachelor of Social Work, and eligibility for membership with the relevant National Board or professional association; orAn alternative tertiary qualification (AQF Level 7 Qualification) in a discipline considered relevant to the duties, for example Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Psychology, Bachelor of Youth Work, Bachelor of Psychological Science; orAn associate degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (AQF Level 5 or 6 Qualification) in a discipline considered relevant to the duties, for example a Diploma in Community Services.Current Driver's Licence.The Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Act 2013 requires persons undertaking work in a regulated activity to be registered.
A regulated activity is a child-related service or activity defined in the Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Regulations 2014.
This registration must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of this may be checked at any time during employment.
