The role you could play We are seeking a values-driven and dedicated Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander AOD Case Manager for The Sunrise Centre Homeless Program.
You will engage, network, and support our participants to access culturally appropriate pathways into and out of the Alcohol and Other Drugs Program.
The Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander AOD Case Manager will actively represent, advocate, and engage with the sector and the community to support the participants in the program and to promote the Alcohol Treatment program to ensure the delivery of culturally appropriate and safe services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Key responsibilities:
Conduct case meetings weekly and group facilitation.
Provide advocacy and referrals, liaising with other service providers and stakeholders both verbally, face to face, and via emails.
Support participants with appointments.
Support the program manager/clinical coordinator and staff in developing their knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
Develop and review treatment plans with participants.
Undertake intake and assessment with clients to develop a shared understanding of their situation and related problems and strengths.
Provide opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to connect with their community, families, and culture.
This is a permanent part-time (26.6 hours per week) position, located in Berrimah, NT.
This role operates Monday - Friday (work hours can be discussed).
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Level 4 Award.
This position is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants only, as TSA considers that being Aboriginal or a Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement for the position in accordance with the 'Anti-Discrimination Act 1992 s.35(b) (NT).
The ideal candidate would have:
Qualifications (min.
certificate IV) in community services or similar.
Demonstrated previous experience working in a similar position.
Experience working with people who may not have English as a first language.
In-depth knowledge of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and culture.
A national criminal history check (to be completed during the recruitment process).
Working with Children check is required prior to commencement.
A current First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain.
A current driver's license.
