Are you an experienced professional looking for an exciting opportunity to lead the management of diverse property assets in one of the world's most vibrant cities?
The City of Sydney is undergoing a significant transformational change within Property Services, and we're seeking skilled and motivated individuals to join our Business Services Team.
The City manages a unique and diverse range of assets, including heritage-listed commercial buildings, award-winning libraries, and operationally critical depots.
Our portfolio includes over 1,500 property interests worth $2.7 billion, covering assets such as building properties, footway agreements, vacant land, and road interests.
This is a rare opportunity to contribute to the realisation of our Sustainable Sydney 2030 2050 vision by driving high-performance asset management.
As a Property Compliance Manager, you'll:
Establish and monitor key performance indicators for compliance activities.
Define relevant KPIs, analyse data, and use metrics to evaluate and improve compliance programs.
Oversee regular property inspections and audits to assess regulatory adherence.
Coordinate inspections, identify non-compliance issues, develop action plans, and maintain detailed records for transparency.
Oversee vendor and contractor compliance with requirements.
Vet compliance credentials, monitor work, and enforce adherence to standards throughout contracts.
Drive staff training programs on compliance requirements and best practices.
Develop materials, organise sessions, and foster a culture of compliance awareness and accountability.
We're looking for someone with:
Tertiary education in property management, real estate, law, facility management or related fields is preferred.
Demonstrated experience in fire compliance and risk management and ability to interpret current federal, state and local regulations, codes, and standards concerning building matters.
Comprehensive understanding of local, state, and federal regulations related to property management, including health and safety, building codes, and environmental laws.
Proven experience in conducting inspections and audits, identifying non-compliance issues, and developing action plans to address them.
Strong skills in managing compliance-related documentation and preparing detailed reports for regulatory authorities and senior management.
Expertise in identifying potential compliance risks, conducting risk assessments, and implementing strategies to mitigate these risks proactively.
This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
The recommended applicant must complete a pre-employment health declaration and criminal history check.
What we can offer you:
3 days of care and cultural leave each year for health and wellbeing activities, cultural and religious days or events of significance.
Collaborative approach to flexible working.
City centre head office, with many public transport options.
Leadership and management development program.
Further education program providing reimbursement of course fees, and study and exam leave.
Opportunity to attend external courses and conferences.
Long service and employee recognition awards.
Employee assistance program offering free, confidential counselling.
Supporting families:
26 weeks paid parental leave and 6 weeks paid partner leave.
Paid and unpaid adoption and long-term fostering leave.
Paid superannuation for up to 52 weeks of parental leave.
Part-time and job-sharing options available.
Supportive return-to-work environment.
Inclusive culture:
Recognised as an Inclusive Employer by the Diversity Council of Australia.
Active employee networks including City Women, City Pride, DiverseCity and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander network.
We welcome candidates from all backgrounds in a workplace as diverse as our communities.
We're passionate about gender balance, with an executive team two-thirds female and half of leadership roles held by women.
All applicants, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability, veterans and people of diverse sexualities and genders, are encouraged to join us.
