TheWomen's National Basketball League (WNBL)is preparing to embark on a transformative journey to enhance its visibility, engagement, and impact on the sports landscape, from April 2025.
With a commitment to fostering growth and innovation, the NBL Group aims to elevate the WNBL to new heights, building on a legacy of excellence while creating sustainable opportunities for athletes, fans, and communities across Australia.
What You'll Do AsMedia & PR Manager,you'll drive the WNBL's media strategy and public profile during an exciting new era for the league.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and the NBL Chief Content & Media Officer, you'll develop compelling communications, build strong media relationships, and create engaging content that showcases our players, teams, and league initiatives.
Key Responsibilities: Media Strategy & Relations Lead the WNBL's media strategy and drive year-on-year growth in coverageBuild and maintain relationships with key media stakeholdersManage league communications and media inquiriesLead crisis communications and issues managementContent & Communications Create and distribute engaging media content across multiple platformsManage live event coverage, including press conferences and interviewsDevelop strategic communications for major events and milestonesOversee social media strategy and digital engagementStakeholder Management Support clubs with media relations training and resourcesFacilitate player media opportunities and story developmentWork with executives to align communications with league messagingCollaborate with internal teams to deliver integrated campaignsWhat You Bring We're looking for someone with:
Minimum 3 years' experience in media relations, preferably in sports or entertainmentExceptional written and verbal communication skillsStrong understanding of the sports media landscapeExperience managing multiple projects under pressureContent creation and social media expertiseUnderstanding of Australian basketball highly regardedPassion for women's sport and gender equityWhy Join Us?
