The Opportunity

We are looking for motivated student nurses who are looking to build on their clinical skills through dedicated clinical supervision, patient engagement & professional development. This role offers the opportunity to transform your passion into impact.
This is expected to be a casual position.
The Role
The role of the Assistant in Nursing is to support registered nurses (RN) and enrolled nurses (EN) in the delivery of general patient care within the limitations specified by their educational qualification standards and practice policy and procedures.
Tasks will include but are not limited to:
Provides patient escort if deemed appropriate by the RNProvides patient companionship if deemed appropriate by the RNProvides patient surveillance if deemed appropriate by the RNApplies practical intervention procedures for dementia or behavioural problems if deemed appropriate by the RNAttends to simple dressings as explicitly directed, on a case-by-case basis, if deemed appropriate by the RNTakes and records patients' observations, temperature, pulse, respirations, blood glucose, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, Height, Weight and BMI on stable patientsUnder mentorship and direction, support elements of Chronic Disease Management/Prevention (care planning and health assessments) by initiating appropriate lines of questioning, assessment (observations, ECG, ABI and urinalysis) and data entrySupport COVID vaccination clinics under direct supervision of an RNPerforms routine urinalysis and report's findings to the RNECG Lead placement and spirometry (without medication) on stable patient under supervision of RNAssist with doorstep screener/triage policy to support pandemic planUpdate and maintain patient records in a timely mannerConsistently be aware of OHS requirements and comply with themRequired Knowledge and Experience
The successful applicant will have:
Nursing student with at least 12 months course qualifications, Certificate 111 in Health Services Assistance or pre-registration nursesCompletion of clinical competenciesProven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as requiredHigh Level of interpersonal skills and communication skillsSelf motivated and able to work effectively according to directionHigh level of customer serviceCommitment to continuous improvement and the achievement of excellenceTo apply
