Berry Streets Take Two program has partnered with a local agency to support young people living in Out of Home Care by providing a stable, holistic, culturally informed therapeutic response.
Hybrid role based at Ballarat Office, and Residential Care Homes in the Central Highlands Region on Wadawurrung CountryPart Time (5 days per fortnight), Permanent position.$112k + 11% Superannuation + Salary Packaging up to $15,900 pa (pro rata)Your Opportunity Take Two provides a range of therapeutic services for infants, children and young people who have suffered trauma, neglect, and disrupted attachment, and contributes to the service system that provides care, support and protection for these children.
One of these services is the Intensive Therapeutic Service, a Victoria-wide service funded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, managed by Berry Street.
As a Therapeutic Specialist, you will be responsible for providing specifically designed clinical support, resources and frameworks to support our Young People residing in Berry Street's Therapeutic Residential Care Homes.
Key Responsibilities We are searching for a Therapeutic Specialist who will provide therapeutic clinical support to both our Young People and Care staff within the regions Residential Care Homes.
In this role you will use therapeutic assessment and formulation to determine appropriate care and treatment plans which consider a young person's trauma and attachment experiences to improve their physical and developmental health and wellbeing.
You will: provide a thorough assessment of young people's current presentation, including development, mental health and the impact on them of their trauma and attachment experience.translating the assessment findings into practice guidance for the residential care staff andsupporting the staff group through the provision of reflective practice opportunitiesworking closely with residential care and TFM staff to ensure each young person receives care that meets their individual needs, promotes healing from trauma and supports their wellbeing.Your Skills and Experience Strong understanding of developmental trauma and experience conducting clinical work with young people, adolescents and families.Sound understanding of the complexity of family violence, service systems, and the issues involved in providing services to our clients.Experience working with Young People in Out-Of-Home Care or Child protective Services is highly desirable.Minimum of 2 years experience conducting trauma and developmentally informed clinical work with children and young people.Bachelor degree level or higher qualification in a Health or Welfare related field such as Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, Family Therapy, Speech Pathology or related discipline.The Benefits Berry Street are one of the largest independent agencies in Australia, providing a range of diverse programs to over 35,000 young people, children and families across Victoria each year.
