Assistant Director Cyber Security Awareness

The key duties of the position include
The Role The Defence Cyber and Information Assurance Branch (DCIAB) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced manager to join the Cyber Security Awareness team as EL 1 Assistant Director.
Reporting to the Director of Cyber Security Business Operations in the Office of Defence Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), the successful candidate will lead the creation and management of an all-of-Defence cyber security awareness program.
This includes campaigns, products, systems and artefacts to shape a dedicated and targeted continuous cyber-safe communications with the objective of lifting awareness of threats, risks, incidents, policy changes, and risky cyber behaviours within Defence.
Duties may include but are not limited to: Develop and implement a multi-channel communication strategy to disseminate a clear, concise and Defence audience-centric Cyber Security Awareness program for a range of channels including intranet sites, training and awareness platform, electronic newsletters, and stakeholder communication.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the awareness program.
Reinforce compliance with organisational security policies.
Foster a collaborative approach to cyber security across Defence.
Contribute to internal conversations that shape or shine a spotlight on cyber security awareness culture.
Be responsible for building team capability through coaching, feedback, and mentoring activities to build resiliency and technical competency within a high performing team.
Lead and manage an operational team responsible for coordination, planning and conducting of cyber security awareness activities and programs.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP).
This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.

About our Team Defence Cyber and Information Assurance Branch is part of Cyber Command within Joint Capabilities Group (JCG).
The Branch's two core functions are:
Supporting the Defence Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in providing leadership and governance to Defence's cyber and information security capabilities; Providing effective cyber and information security advice, guidance and Defence Cybersecurity Operations services to JCG and broader Defence customers.
DCIAB is focused on the prevention, detection, response to and recovery from cyber security incidents that may affect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of our information to support Defences' mission.
DCIAB plays a leading role in securing, assuring and defending Defence's systems to support Defence's mission.
We are a multi-disciplined team consisting of APS, ADF, and contractors that work with all Groups and Services to support the protection of Defence information system capabilities.

Have the ability to understand to demonstrate a sound understanding of cyber threats, vulnerabilities, risks and trends in cyber security and how they affect Defence and its people; Promote a culture of security consciousness and proactive risk mitigation; Deliver an ongoing program of work to educate and inform employees and stakeholders on best practices, policies, and procedures to enhance organisational cyber resilience; Be a skilled, confident and persuasive communicator with the ability to communicate with professionalism and clarity, both verbally and in writing and to explain complex concepts in plain language; Strong stakeholder management, engagement, and relationship skills; Ability to form complex 'communications/messages' in a simple, clear and concise manner to the various audiences within the organisation; The ability to plan, manage and maintain a complex, organisation-wide program over the longer term; Be adaptable, resilient and flexible; Develop, coach and mentor staff to build a high performing multi-disciplinary team that effectively delivers against the DCIAB mission.
