Location: Canberra, Australia
The Role
Reporting to the Canberra Bureau Chief, the Political Correspondent, Canberra will be doing the following:
Cover major National and International stories across TV, radio and online platforms often with irregular hours.
A strong focus is required on the domestic political agenda.
Co-ordinate and collaborate with Craft Editors and Camera Operators to deliver accurate, quality news packages and meet broadcasting deadlines.
Report live from the field on breaking stories; presenting to camera and providing video web reports; provide Q and A material for Radio.
File accurate, timely online copy & social media posts subject to our policy.
Develop and maintain political contacts and propose story ideas in a range of areas, including national politics, foreign policy, immigration and defence.
Providing production support for other journalists in the newsroom when required.
