The Senior Project Officer, Interpretation and Signage will have a sound knowledge of visitor management and communications in relation to visitor experiences on protected area estates such as National Parks.
They will manage a range of interpretation and signage projects, working collaboratively in several project teams concurrently.
Interpersonal, problem solving, and negotiation skills are essential as they will be working with a diverse range of stakeholders implementing projects in a range of challenging landscapes.
The ability to successfully initiate and implement continuous improvement in the workplace and contribute to sign (legislative, advisory, safety and interpretive) policy development within Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be a valuable contribution to sustainable visitor engagement within Queensland's protected areas.
As the Senior Project Officer, you will:
Participate in a multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement visitor-facing communications and interpretation and signage strategies.
Actively promote and provide consistent representation of QPWS&P sign policy and visual communication guidelines across both QPWS&P and tourism and industry stakeholders.
Provide advice to QPWS&P staff on visitor management, sign policy and planning, natural and cultural values interpretation, visual communication and visitor engagement.
Research and analyse information, and prepare correspondence, reports, briefings and submissions regarding the development, progress and delivery of key projects and issues relating to visitor communications.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders including QPWS&P regions, other divisions, state and local governments, First Nations organisations, recreation and tourism industry stakeholders relating to visitor management and communication and provide advice as required.
Participate as a proactive member of the Asset Services Branch.
Assist the Unit Manager to represent QPWS&P in industry forums, interdepartmental and other committees.
Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.
