Our Construction SA business, an integral division of the Schiavello Group for the last 50 years, delivering inspiring and award-winning construction projects, has continued to grow, with a strong pipeline of projects within the Health, Aged Care, and Education sectors.
As a result, we are looking for an experienced, supportive, and qualified Site Safety Officer with at least 5 years minimum experience in delivering and implementing a positive safety culture on complex construction and fitout sites.
We are looking for someone who is highly motivated and driven to join a dynamic team and continue to grow our business in 2025 and beyond.
You will be responsible for working closely with our site team, implementing and monitoring the company safety policies, procedures, and management plans, including sub-contractor safety documents (SWMS) for sites across various sectors (including health, education, and commercial assets) ranging from $50,000 - $30 million.
You will have experience in fostering a positive safety culture on various construction and fitout sites, with a positive outlook that 'no project is too big or too small to make a difference'.
Key Role & Responsibilities Conduct site inductionsReview sub-contractor Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)Confident in providing guidance and assistance to the Schiavello site staffConduct toolbox talksProvide periodic performance reporting to various levels within the businessAssist in the development of policy and procedure frameworkPrepare projects and personnel for an audit to ensure full conformanceUndertake all required training as determined by the businessLead Critical Incident Investigations where applicableMaintain a high level of competency with all software systems (HammerTech)Contribute to business improvement processes to improve Federal Safety Commissioner (OFSC) ComplianceMaintain existing relationships with clients and subcontractorsFormulate positive relationships with all Schiavello personnel including supportive shared and corporate servicesPrepared to demonstrate commitment to the organisationOther Key Skills & Experiences 5 Years' experience in a WHS officer role or site supervisor role in commercial constructionProficient knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001Experience with Federal Safety (OFSC) requirements (preferable)Minimum of Cert IV in WHSValid First Aid CertificatePrevious experience on DIT projects favorable but not necessaryA high level of verbal and computer communication skills with trades and Schiavello staffSpeak clearly and fluently with the ability to avoid creating conflict through effectively navigating emotions in conversationThe Benefits of Working with Schiavello At Schiavello, we work hard to provide the best results for our clients and understand the importance of supporting our people to facilitate these results.
