Fixed-term - Full-time Clinical Trials Pharmacist (Grade 1 or 2) Chris O'Brien Lifehouse aims to achieve lasting change in the way we treat and prevent cancer in Australia, by bringing together all of the elements of cancer research, treatment, care, education and emotional support within the one centre of excellence. Lifehouse will provide integrated cancer treatment in a manner, which supports, nurtures and empowers patients, their families and carers through mutually beneficial partnerships.
We will ensure that treatment and care decisions include a patient's wants, needs and preferences, enabling participation in their own care. Position is a fixed 12-month full-time role with a possibility of extension. Role We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Clinical Trials Pharmacist to join our pharmacy in delivering innovative oncology treatments to patients of Lifehouse.
You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the use of investigational drugs in accordance to protocol requirements.
Lifehouse is involved in Phase 0 to Phase 3 studies and you will have a crucial role in the execution and management of these trials.
In addition to clinical trials, the team also manages Medicines Access Programs and medicines accessed via Special Access Program pathways.
Key Responsibilities Review patients and treatment orders to ensure protocol compliance and patient safety Prepare and dispense study medications in accordance with protocol and legislative requirements Review and assess investigational drug protocols for feasibility Educate other healthcare professionals and patients on safe handling and administration of investigational products Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of clinical trial activities Maintain accurate records and documents in accordance with ICH GCP Guidelines and legislative requirements Facilitate access to medicines through Medicines Access Programs and Special Access Program pathways Be involved in exciting projects Selection Criteria Registered Pharmacist with no restrictions on practice Effective communication and collaboration skills Ability to work independently and as a part of a team An understanding of the principles of medication safety Familiarity with Good Clinical Practice Confidence using various software applications Experience as a hospital pharmacist with a focus on clinical oncology or clinical trials is desirable Applicants must have rights to work in Australia.
