Please note that current staff wishing to be considered for secondment to this position must seek prior approval from their supervisor before submitting an application.Who are we looking for?We are seeking an Associate Lecturer / Lecturer in Fashion Design to join the School of Design, Faculty of Creative Industries, Education and Social Justice.
This position focuses primarily on contributing to the teaching and learning activities within the Fashion Design course and the broader School of Design.
It involves developing curriculum content, leading teaching teams, and implementing effective learning strategies to ensure high-quality educational experiences for undergraduate students.
The successful candidate will be expected to shape and deliver innovative teaching practices, stay current with emerging trends in fashion design, and continually refine the curriculum to meet student needs.
In addition to direct teaching responsibilities, the role includes fostering collaborations with industry, engaging in professional and community-based initiatives, and upholding university policies to ensure equitable access to education and a safe learning environment.
Reporting to the Head of School, the appointee will be expected to meet the classification standards of their appointed level and demonstrate an ongoing commitment to continuous improvement in teaching and learning outcomes.

What you need to succeed Completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline area or equivalent professional experience and recognition.Experience in leadership of fashion teaching, including contributing to innovative curriculum development and delivery at undergraduate level.Demonstrated contemporary practical knowledge of Fashion Design theory and practice, with emphasis on industry experience as a design practitioner.Demonstrated disciplinary expertise / track record in technical aspects of Fashion Design to fulfil commitments to teaching, including but not limited to patternmaking and manufacturing, digital fashion programs, 3D, and knowledge of sustainable fashion practices.Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated success in establishing and maintaining academic and industry collaborations that realise new opportunities for teaching and engagement.Life at QUT We're committed to building a culture that fosters connection between people and purpose.
