Assessor - Aged Care Policy Accommodation

Sydney CBD – Hybrid flexibilityImmediate start 12 months' contract, view to further extension $85.11 per hour + superOur Federal Government Client is an independent government agency that assists the Australian Government to fund hospital and aged care services more efficiently by providing evidence-based price determinations and pricing advice.
The Role: Aged Care Policy Accommodation Assessors are primarily responsible for the completion of maximum accommodation payment applications, extra service applications, and maximum accommodation payment verification assessments in alignment with relevant manuals, processes, and legislation.
They are required to liaise and negotiate with aged care providers, complete assessment reports and letters, and support the Executive to make decisions.
Assessors are required to manage personally identifiable information and report other non-compliance.
They are also required to manage and record all correspondence relevant to providers and their assessments.
Additionally, they will contribute to policy development, project development, and provide advice on process improvement where necessary.
Key responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Supporting the Executive Director, Aged Care Policy and Communications with regards to the assessment of applications by aged care providers to charge refundable accommodation deposits in residential aged careEstablishing and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholdersDeveloping ministerial, Pricing Authority, committee and other papers and correspondence within the timeframes determined by the CEODeveloping and reviewing policies, procedures and frameworks, as required, to support the Agency in effectively undertaking its role in the assessment of applications by aged care providersDeveloping and implementing the Agency's policies relating to the assessment of applications by aged care providersKey capabilities and experience will include: Providing expert advice on policy, complex problem solving, and issues management for internal and external stakeholdersUndertaking work activities with an awareness of their possible impact on strategic, political or operational outcomesWorking with a level of independence, under broad direction, with a concurrent need to resolve issues and deliver quality outcomesWorking with a focus on research, analysis and judgement to manage complex issuesDeveloping or evaluating applications for presentation to the Pricing Authority or nominated delegateCommunicating and making decisions that are based on professional judgement that have a high level of impactCoordinating and undertaking detailed or sensitive projects that impact on the Agency's strategic, political or operational outcomes.A detailed understanding of the aged care system, legislation and regulatory environment.Thorough understanding of business, commercial and financial knowledge relating to the aged care system.Experience in policy development at a national or state level and preferably within an aged care or healthcare contextTertiary qualifications in social sciences, health, public policyTo Apply: To be eligible it is essential that applicants hold Australian Citizenship and have the ability to obtain and maintain a national police check.
