About the Opportunity
We are looking for a Junior Workplace Health & Safety Coordinator to join our Safety & Quality Team on a temporary basis – 6-month maternity leave contract, based at our modern Head Office in Clayfield. This role is responsible for assisting the safety and quality functions within the team across Qscan Group, including developing, implementing, and reviewing WH&S policies. You will report to the Safety & Quality Manager, working within a friendly and close-knit team.
About You
Preferred qualifications in WH&S, with a strong emphasis on administrative expertise. You should have at least 3 years' experience in a similar role, with preferably a solid understanding of the WH&S Act, regulations, and codes of practice, and a passion for promoting WH&S principles within an organisation. You will also have:

The ability to problem-solve and think on your feet
High-level organisational and time management skills
The ability to work with a diverse group of healthcare staff to implement WH&S performance and improvement strategies
You will:
Perform WH&S functions under the national Workplace Health and Safety Act & Regulations to assist Qscan Group to fulfill its legal obligations.
Support the WHS Advisor in all WHS projects and functions including radiation and medication safety.
Manage the radiation safety register and collection/upkeep of documentation in this space, whilst working closely with the radiation safety officers (RSO's).
Attend the WHS Committee & Radiation Safety Committee meetings as team secretariat.
Assist with chemical management, collation of SDS's and completion of required hazardous substance risk assessments.
Assist with implementation of 2-year WHS national safety strategy plan and project completion.
Develop, implement, assess, report and review safety audits/inspections across the group.
Visit clinics as required and assist staff with completion of safety audits in line with internal audit schedule.
Engage in hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control activities, providing recommendations for controls.
Assist the Quality Advisor with quality functions including document control and upkeep of the safety and quality SharePoint.
Prepare end of month reporting on safety and quality functions across the group.
Provide systems administration of the Qscan Group incident reporting system, supporting staff with troubleshooting, logging on, managing incidents and training etc.
Maintain a sound understanding of national state by state WH&S laws/regulations and present changes/updates to the law/regulations to management and staff as required.
Ensure appropriate WH&S systems, policies, and procedures are developed, updated, and maintained with a focus on continuous quality improvement.
Provide administrative support to Qscan Groups' Clinical & Quality Governance Framework, as required.
