The Lecturer (Higher Education – Academic Development/Professional Learning) reports to the Executive Dean and/or Delegates and has responsibility for leading, enhancing and growing the Academic Development and Professional Learning portfolio, programs and practice at VIT.
All lecturers are expected to be involved in scholarship within their discipline.
The position, duties and responsibilities listed here can be varied from time to time by the CEO or authorized delegate to align with organizational goals, operational needs and changing market conditions.

Person Specifications:
KNOWLEDGE Strong academic achievement combined with a broad subject background enabling a diverse contribution to the Academic Development/Professional Learning programs.
SKILLS Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated experience in developing, delivering and managing online, face to face and or blended lectures, tutorials and other classes in Higher Education.
Demonstrated experience in Design, Develop and Publish online teaching and learning resources.
Demonstrated experience to manage and monitor students at risk of unsatisfactory course progress and implement intervention strategies.
Demonstrated experience in the effective use of IT systems including CRM and Student management systems.
Proven record of ability to manage time and work to strict deadlines.
Develop ongoing action plans for students in need of extra learning support.
The ability to conduct research in the Academic Development/Professional Learning area.
APTITUDE Ability to work collaboratively.
Awareness of and respect for foreign cultures.
QUALIFICATIONS PhD or equivalent experience in academic development or related field.
TESOL qualification or equivalent.
Membership of relevant professional organisations.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE Demonstrated experience in designing, facilitating and delivering Academic Development/Professional Learning workshops at tertiary level in Australia.
At least 2 years' experience in Higher Education working with international and domestic students.
Wide experience in the Academic Development.
Curriculum and assessment design.
Lead and Manage projects effectively.
Engagement with scholarly/professional community.
Pastoral care of students.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning Participate in curriculum design and development activities.
Develop, deliver and manage online, face to face and or blended lectures, tutorials and other classes.
Design and develop high quality courseware and assessment that meet industry standards.
Deliver quality teaching that meets student learning outcomes.
Engage with colleagues in a reflective culture that values the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Conduct scholarship activities to continuously improve the quality of teaching.
Participate in seminars aimed at sharing teaching and learning expertise.
Course Management and Administration Recommend on the further development of curriculum.
Engage in organisation and conduct of courses.
Participate in examination management and administration.
Contribute to the overall improvement of the course management and administration function.
Participate in external benchmarking activities.
Lead and manage projects effectively.
Compliance and record keeping Maintain and update records on a regular basis.
Responsible for submitting all records pertaining to the teaching unit accurately and promptly.
Student Management Assist in timely and effective induction of all new students.
Provide support and assistance to students.
Prepare student study plans and counsel students at-risk.
Provide pastoral care and support to students.
Act as a mentor for students.
Manage and monitor students at risk of unsatisfactory course progress.
Staff Management Manage the overall workflow within unit(s) and course(s).
Provide clear and timely direction for any staff reporting to this position.
Ensure all individual student assessment results are provided in a timely manner.
Other staff management tasks as requested.
Governance and Leadership Participate in committees regarding curriculum development.
Participate in meetings as required.
Ensure informative reports are presented to respective committees in a timely fashion.
Scholarly and Industry Engagement Maintain an effective engagement with relevant professional bodies.
Maintain an appropriate level of scholarly engagement.
Travel: Inter campus travel at short notice as required.
