Aviation Safety Assurance Officer

The RoleMultiple positions (ongoing and non-ongoing) are currently available within the Defence Aviation Safety Authority. As an Aviation Safety Assurance Officer, you are responsible to the Director of Continuing Airworthiness for planning, leading and reporting of continuing airworthiness oversight and enforcement activities. The role requires the review of complex technical issues and the execution of appropriate technical delegations.The successful applicant will be required to actively manage, build and foster strong relationships with key stakeholders within Defence and commercial organisations. Additionally, the ability to identify relevant stakeholders' expectations and concerns to develop and communicate methodologies and practices to achieve safety outcomes.You will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development of aviation continuing airworthiness assurance.About our TeamYou will be working as part of a small team within the DCA Continuing Airworthiness Assurance section, responsible for managing allocated approved organisations and aviation platforms in their continued compliance to the DASRs. This involves:Review of complex technical documentationProvision of regulation advice to the aviation safety communityPromoting and providing education of the DASRs as requiredPerforming formal reviews of organisation products and making recommendations for approvalRoutine oversight and enforcement of organisations is a key component of the team's function and will require travel for onsite visits.Our Ideal CandidateOur ideal candidate will have the leadership, time management and communication skills to enable the management and delivery of complex continuing airworthiness tasks and a record of accomplishment of effectively collaborating with multidisciplinary stakeholders to anticipate and respond to their needs. This will enable coordination and support of complex technical activities.Our ideal candidate will also enjoy examining systems and processes of aviation organisations. They will understand aviation design and maintenance, and will want to work in a strong collaborative team and have the ability to engage and build strong relationships with a diverse range of smart, exciting people.
