For four decades, Coral Expeditions has operated with a single purpose – to take small groups of likeminded explorers to remote places with expert guidance and warm Australian hospitality.

The role
The role of the Chief Engineer is a key on-board management position that works closely with the Master to ensure the safety of the vessel, the passengers, and the crew on board.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Continued ongoing development and implementation of a preventative maintenance program; Engine maintenance and the cleanliness and general condition of the engine room; Maintenance of the pumps, hydraulic equipment, electrical equipment, lighting, and bridge equipment; Bunkering of fuel and oil as required; Comply with oil pollution regulations and maintain the oil record book; Comply with all regulations, ISM, codes of conduct, and standards; Maintain and upkeep ship manuals as required by AMSA; Stand watch unless emergency mechanical and electrical matters need attention; Presentations and engine room tours for guests; Dining with guests on occasion.
What you will bring to us:
Proven experience in a similar role; Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Strong leadership and management skills with a desire to coach and develop others; Ability to work well in a team environment; Demonstrated safe working practices mindset; Sound engineering systems and operational knowledge and the ability to problem solve.

Qualifications Required:
Engineer Class 1 or 2 AMSA Endorsed; Crowd Control & Crisis Management; AMSA International Medical; First Aid & CPR; Passport; ASSB or other country equivalent discharge book.
