As a member of the Pepperstone IT team, the Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of cloud-based production systems and services.
The Senior Cloud Engineer will provide technical advice, guidance and mentorship to other engineers within the organisation. They will act as a technical expert in cloud engineering and drive the adoption of best practices.
This role will be responsible for developing highly scalable and efficient cloud solutions and will work closely with the Cloud Engineering Team Lead to ensure the success of the function.
As our Senior Cloud Engineer, your key responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
Effectively deliver on requirements, ensuring the agreed outcomes are achieved within determined timeframesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement and maintain cloud solutions that are resilient, scalable and secureContribute to the design and management of cloud infrastructures through CI/CD pipelines and automationAdvocate for and implement best practices for DevOps, Continuous Delivery, including automated testing (BDD, TDD), build and deployment pipelines and observabilityDevelop automation strategies to monitor and adjust performant cloud solutionsDevelop and maintain data security processes to ensure networks, data stores, and applications remain secureAssist with technical problem solving and provide technical guidance to other engineers and teams across the organisationMentor junior engineers and train them on best practice, cloud technologies, software architecture and toolsAct as a point of escalation during incidents, helping to resolve issues and risksStay up to date with cloud industry trends, technologies and market changesWork in alignment with Pepperstone's values About you Bachelor degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Software Engineering, other related certification, or equivalent on-the-job experienceMinimum 3+ years of experience in a cloud, platform or devops roleProven ability to manage and drive change in a team environmentExcellent communication and interpersonal skills both written and verbal including the ability to present to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersExtensive experience in designing and managing cloud networks, architectures, applications, and services on AWSExpertise in DevOps culture and CI/CD practicesIn-depth knowledge of automation, orchestration, container and serverless technologiesExperience in incident and issue managementAt least 1-2 years experience in a programming language (Javascript, Python, Golang)Understanding of site reliability engineering, observability data types (logs, metrics and tracing) and experience with related toolingCommitted to ongoing learning and developmentAbility to live the Pepperstone valuesNice to have Experience with AWS Systems ManagerExperience with Alibaba CloudExperience with Windows Server and automation Why you will enjoy working with us Competitive salary structure including company bonus schemeGenuinely collaborative and friendly cultureFlexible and hybrid workingRemote working option - work from anywhere for up to 6 weeks per year, in addition to hybrid working as standardOngoing personal development & learning opportunities15 weeks paid primary carers parental leave & 4 weeks paid secondary carers leave3 paid volunteering days per year & Workplace Giving ProgramFrequent events and celebrations including a standard weekly socialBeautifully renovated large office at Collins Square - 727 Collins Street, MelbourneBest in class end of trip facilities including bicycle parking, change rooms & showersA full stocked kitchen, onsite coffee machines with locally sourced coffee beans (this is Melbourne after all) and curated specialty teas About Pepperstone
