The Position
Are you passionate about shaping compliance frameworks and driving organisational improvement? Join an established team within QLD State Government to play a pivotal role in enhancing our compliance management capabilities and embedding a culture of accountability and assurance.
As the Compliance Officer, you will be instrumental in finalising and operationalising our new Compliance Management Framework. Reporting to manager, your role will focus on:
Leading organisation-wide consultation to refine and finalise key compliance documents, including:
Compliance Policy
Compliance Obligation Management Procedure
Compliance Breach Management Procedure
Compliance Obligation Register
Compliance Breach Register
Compliance Risk Assessment Methodology
Compliance Assurance Plans
Developing and implementing processes and work practices that bring the framework and its supporting documents to life, such as:
Establishing mechanisms for reporting and recording compliance breaches.
Implementing tracking systems for breach remediation.
Contribute to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of a fit for purpose framework (including maintaining the delegations manual). Create and maintain related policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure consistent governance practices across the organisation.
Monitor organisations operations to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, and internal policies, including maintaining compliance registers and systems, develop and maintain non-compliance incident processes, and prepare and present compliance reports for senior leadership, highlighting risks, non-compliance and remedial actions.
Manage policy governance processes to ensure the QBCC internal policies and procedures are maintained and reviewed by the business areas.
Be a trusted advisor and strategic thought partner on corporate governance and compliance matters. Manage high priority initiatives and identify solutions through a governance lens. Implement performance improvement initiatives in governance, compliance and risk management to lift performance and outcomes across work programs. Manage and nurture key stakeholder relationships.
Provide high quality advice to management and staff on contemporary risk management and corporate governance issues, approaches and trends.
Additionally, undertake special projects and other duties as directed by management.
Candidate attributes
Demonstrated ability to promote and implement governance, policy and compliance best practices.
Demonstrates sound corporate governance by maintaining a high standard of practice through governance and risk management and demonstrates a high level of personal integrity.
Take personal responsibility for meeting objectives and progressing work, demonstrating sound judgement and decision making, and modelling ethical and respectful behaviour to achieve outcomes.
Engage well with others (internal and external) - understand their needs, be proactive and self-directed, working flexibly with minimal supervision, and are able to generate new ideas or business improvements. Can communicate with influence to help educate and advise on best practice.
Build and sustain positive relationships with team members, divisions, and stakeholders by developing effective networks, consulting, negotiating and collaborating to achieve results.
Relevant tertiary qualifications or regulatory experience will be highly regarded.
