Be the first line of defence in maintaining our data's integrity, quality, and protection, making a significant impact on our organisation's trust and security.About the roleAs the Data Governance & Privacy Specialist at TMBL, you will oversee two core data trust capabilities: facilitating data privacy conversations across the organisation and ensuring compliant data governance in line with our framework and policies.
Positioned as the first line of defence for the Bank, your focus will be on adhering to enterprise data governance and privacy frameworks to maintain consistency, quality, and protection of our data.Key ResponsibilitiesCreate awareness of good data management practices at TMBL through guidance and training on data and privacy frameworks, principles, and policies.Facilitate open discussions on privacy and governance issues by consulting and bringing parties together.Support data retention and de-identification strategies.Drive regulatory compliance in data management and privacy as the first line of defence.Support privacy-related initiatives to ensure privacy considerations are integrated into business processes, products, and services.Advise on the completion of privacy impact assessments (PIAs) to identify and address privacy risks in new projects, initiatives, or changes to existing processes.Model good data management, data governance compliance, and privacy compliance.Implement corrective actions and preventive measures based on incident investigation findings.Foster a culture of privacy awareness and best practices throughout the organisation.Promote ongoing education and communication on privacy-related matters.Collaborate with internal audit or compliance functions to support privacy-related audits or assessments.Support data breach response activities, including privacy impact assessments, root cause analysis, risk mitigation, and coordinating response actions.Support AI enablement and governance across the Bank, including collaboration with IT and data science teams to integrate AI governance principles into the development lifecycle.Establish and oversee model and algorithm assurance processes, and Monitor emerging AI risks and regulations, ensuring organisational readiness and compliance.About YouThe ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:Experience in performing and documenting requirements elicitation/analysis, data flows, technical specifications, gap analysis, and impact assessments for data and advanced analytics solutions.Ability to identify and manage scope, scope changes, assumptions, issues, dependencies, and risks.Experience in manipulating large datasets, data discovery, analysis, and data profiling.Experience leading data quality initiatives and managing metadata.Knowledge of data lineage and data flow mapping to support regulatory compliance.Strong understanding of data classification, security, and risk management principles.Proficiency in data analytics and reporting tools such as SQL and PowerBI/Qlik.Knowledge of data privacy laws and regulations in relevant jurisdictions.Ability to manage data breaches, from identification and containment to reporting to relevant authorities and stakeholders.Expertise in data retention policies and data destruction processes.Understanding of data anonymisation, encryption, data masking, tokenisation, and other data security techniquesAbout us Teachers Mutual Bank Limited is one of the largest mutual banks in Australia.
