The Role
Land Capability Division is looking for highly motivated and experienced candidates with a demonstrated understanding of and/or experience in procurement and subsequent contracting management.
Utilising in-depth knowledge of, and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements, the EL 1 Contracting Manager will support the Director under broad direction in the delivery of an array of projects.
The procurement activities range from complex, highly sensitive and/or high risk procurement projects to less complex, but nonetheless critical procurements that provide enabling services to the Defence Portfolio and ensure Defence capability outcomes are achieved.
The EL 1 Contracting Manager is expected to plan, lead and manage a range of procurement activities.
The successful candidate will exercise sound decision-making and judgement to provide expert policy advice.
They will engage in complex to very complex problem solving, issues management and may coordinate details or sensitive projects that impact on strategic, political or operational outcomes for Defence.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP).
This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.

About our Team
Land Commercial Management nests within the Chief of Staff Branch Land Capability Division.
The Office has three Lines of Effort in support of the Head of Land Capability, being Budget and Finance, Internal Management and Governance and Procurement & Contracting Management.
The successful candidates will work as part of a collaborative and innovative team, interacting with a variety of stakeholders and business areas within Defence.
In a fast-paced environment, this role requires initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to review and adjust priorities and work activities to meet business outcomes.
This role will provide the opportunity to assist Defence in delivery capability across the Australian Defence Force through procurement of services.

Our ideal candidates will possess a demonstrated understanding and/or experience in:
Managing and supporting procurement processes and practices to ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory frameworks;Managing and ensuring compliance with Government probity related principles;The identification and mitigation of procurement, probity and contract management related risks;Preparation of procurement, probity and contracting related deliverables for all phases of procurement activities;Participating in evaluation, negotiation and debriefing processes.
Commercial awareness, highly developed interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a team and knowledge of the Commonwealth procurement policies are also highly valued.Security Clearance:
