We promote innovation, responsiveness, respectfulness and continuous improvement as our core values.Why join us?Fortnightly RDO: Enjoy a well-deserved break and rejuvenate.Great Team Environment: A safe, respectful and supportive environment to enable you to thrive.Professional Growth: We nurture talent and provide opportunities to flourish.Flexible Work Arrangements: To support your work-life balance.Salary Packaging Options: Including remote area housing allowances and novated lease vehicles.Access to Paid Leave: including purchased leave, paid parental leave, gender affirmation leave and to respond to family violence matters.Employee Assistance Program: Your well-being matters - we've got you covered.Job DescriptionPosition objectives:To provide building and asset maintenance services to the Northern Grampians Shire Council.Work with subcontractors and ensure that work is performed safely and to the required standard.Undertake works including carpentry, incidental works such as concreting, steel fabrication and minor building maintenance.Key responsibility areas:Assist the Team Leader to deliver the annual Facility and Building maintenance program.Oversee the work of the crew specifically formed for individual projects.Provide direction and on-the-job training to employees within the team.Undertake minor maintenance tasks as needed.Conduct minor building and asset inspections and report to the Team Leader.Carry out works directly associated with the fabrication and the maintenance of the built environment.Undertake regular inspections of facilities and equipment.Ensure Council's Service Standards are met.Model Council values and be an integral member of the facility maintenance team.Assist the Team Facility and Building Maintenance to provide on-the-job skills and development.Perform, as directed, other duties that are within the limits of the incumbent's skill, competence and training.Desired Skills and Experience:Trade qualification in the field would be highly regarded (builder, plumber, electrician).Experience in building and construction works.Competence in the use of equipment, reading and interpreting plans, specifications and contract documents is desirable.Some knowledge of relevant building regulations and legislation.Competence in the use of scaffolding, working at heights and forklift is highly desirable.Selection criteria:An ability to communicate and supervise staff in a team environment.An ability to complete daily timesheets and associated plant / equipment and activity returns.Ability to communicate and gain cooperation from staff and the public.Utilise problem-solving skills for quality improvements.Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.Application Process:Attach a resume and cover letter briefly addressing the key selection criteria.Submit your application by following the process on this page.If you'd like to know more, contact Dom Howlett, Team Leader Facility Maintenance at or call .Applications close 5.00pm Sunday 5th January 2025.Northern Grampians Shire Council is dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace.
