Associate Director of Teaching and Learning and School ImprovementSt Joseph's offers an inclusive and non-discriminating learning community to young people, who for a variety of reasons, make the choice to attend a specialised learning environment.
St Joseph's operates across multiple campuses, located in North Melbourne, Geelong, Colac, Ballarat, and a dual engagement virtual learning campus, BlendED.
The young people who attend have typically experienced one or more significant and complex educational, social, developmental, psychological, health, legal or familial situations which demand unique responses.
Such interventions are embedded within the Operation By Principles framework, which combine education with an understanding of trauma-informed practice.
We are seeking an exceptional leader to join the Director of Schools in a pivotal new leadership role dedicated to advancing the school's educational vision through inclusive, equitable, and aspirational practices.
A leader who is an experienced teaching and learning specialist with a record of impactful innovation, they will model St Joseph's values and ethos in delivering outstanding strategic, operational and educational leadership, ensuring St Joseph's achieves its goals through collaboration with students, parents and guardians, local partner organisations, campus teaching and learning leaders and Campus Principals.
This role will be focused on: Forming and developing the Teaching and Learning Leadership GroupDeveloping and implementing an Inclusive Education FrameworkDeveloping Nourishing CurriculumDevelopment of Inclusive and Flexible Learning EnvironmentsThe role This role is a full-time 1.0FTE ongoing teaching position with a 5-year fixed term leadership allowance, based at our Carlton office, working flexibly, with regular travel to school sites.The role will commence in January 2025 and salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.You will need: Ability to commit to and work within our Operating Principles; Respect, Participation, Safe and Legal and Honesty.Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Theology or a related field.Extensive experience in educational leadership, with expertise in curriculum design, inclusive teaching practices, and professional development.Demonstrated commitment and capacity to manage and develop teams in an alternative education setting.Demonstrated high level understanding of the needs of young people attending a Flexible Learning environmentEligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) or ability to obtainAboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People are encouraged to apply; we are an Equal Opportunity Employer and value diversity.
