Sanderson Recruitment has been exclusively retained to recruit a Lead Electrical Engineer to join Hahn Electrical Contracting's dynamic and innovative team.
Operating for 30 years, Hahn is a trusted leader in providing electrical engineering solutions for underground mining and industrial sectors.
With a skilled team of 250 professionals, the company is renowned for its expertise in 1000-volt mining systems, pump stations, drill rigs, ventilation systems, and custom installations.
The Role As the Lead Electrical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing complex projects, delivering technical expertise, and mentoring a high-performing engineering team.
Reporting directly to the Group General Manager and acting as his 2IC, this position offers a unique opportunity to lead impactful projects in underground mining while maintaining the highest standards of safety, energy efficiency, and reliability.
This hands-on leadership role is based in Welshpool, Perth, and involves occasional site visits to the Kalgoorlie office or mine sites.
In this position, you will provide senior-level technical support and advice across multiple projects, fostering strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including clients and Hahn Group employees.
Responsibilities: Supervise, mentor, and support the career development of the engineering team.Oversee electrical design and project management services, including site visits.Develop and implement testing and commissioning procedures to meet industry and regulatory standards.Manage stakeholder communication, supporting bids, tenders, proposals, and technical submissions.Design electrical systems and provide training for engineers and workers in the mining sector.Ensure compliance with AS3000 SAA Wiring Rules, WHS regulations, and client requirements.Maintain accurate documentation and foster open communication across all levels of the business.Key Qualifications & Experience: A recognised Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar, eg Electronics/Control Systems.Membership in the Institute of Engineers Australia with certifications such as CPEng, CEng, or RPEQ (essential).10+ years of engineering experience, including 3-5 years in a management role.Expertise in underground mining systems, HV, variable speed drives, control systems, and PLCs.Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SKM Systems Analysis, PowerCad, and Cable Pro.Strong organisational and multitasking skills with the ability to thrive in dynamic environments.Additional qualifications such as Senior First Aid certification, CAD drafting skills, and an Electrical Worker's Licence are advantageous.Full Australian working rights are essential.On Offer: Leadership and Career Development Opportunity: This highly autonomous role is integral to their organisation, offering a platform for leadership, technical guidance, and the chance to shape significant engineering projects for their clients.Diverse Projects: Work on ventilation systems, LV/HV systems, switchboards, variable speed drives, and more.Generous Salary: Competitive salary package with relocation support for inter-state candidates.Stability: Join a profitable and well-established company with an excellent reputation.Work-Life Balance: Welshpool office Monday to Friday role with regular site travel to mine sites and the Kalgoorlie office.If you are an experienced electrical engineer ready to lead impactful projects, please submit your resume and cover letter to Tara Davidson, Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist, at Sanderson Recruitment.
