Social and Emotional Wellbeing Officer (Identified) Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
About the role
Metro North aspire to have an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce that provides access to culturally safe and responsive person-centred, trauma-informed strength-based practice that promotes a working environment free from racism and discrimination.
The purpose of this role is to improve the social, emotional, and mental wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees working across Metro North Health Services by leading the change required to deliver equitable, accessible, responsive, and culturally sensitive psychological care which respects and promotes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees' cultural integrity.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
Develop Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff health programs.
Integrate evidence-based approaches and methodologies into service delivery.
Co-design and implement Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff social and emotional wellbeing initiatives including peer support opportunities.
Support Metro North services with the design, development, and delivery of culturally appropriate tools, resources, and workshop facilitation to identify initiatives to support workplace culture and staff social and emotional well-being.
Actively pursue professional development and learning opportunities.
Support the implementation of the Key Priority Areas outlined in the MN Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Equity Strategy 2022-2025, and integrate a co-design process for obtaining feedback and evaluation for continuous improvement of the MN Staff Wellness programs.

It is expected that all Metro North Health staff, including the incumbent of this role as a valuable member of the Metro North workforce, contribute to the health equity agenda and meet the intent of supporting the defined six actions that specifically meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS), by actively supporting the elimination of racial discrimination and institutional racism; supporting increased access to health care; influencing the social, cultural, and economic determinants of health; supporting the delivery of sustainable, culturally safe and responsive health services; and recognising the importance of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations to design, deliver, monitor, and review the health and support services we provide.
