Your role By joining the Air Force as Mission Aircrew, you'll enter an Officer Aviation role.
Mission Aircrew refers to the group of roles that work in an air-based environment, and includes Air Mobility Officer, Weapon Systems Officer, or Maritime Patrol and Response Officer.
In these roles, you'll work on board a range of advanced military aircraft and operate some of the world's most sophisticated airborne electronic systems.
Whether you're in the backseat of a fast jet, or refueling an aircraft mid-air, you'll be responsible for the efficient completion of a mission.
Your duties may include: Performing surveillance and control duties in both ground and air environments, using radar, communications, tactical data links and electronic support.
Flying in an F/A-18 F Super Hornet Pilot and EA-18 G Growler operating state of the art mission and weapon systems.
Commanding missions on the P-8 A Poseidon aircraft, for a variety of maritime patrol and response purposes.
Refueling a range of aircraft in mid-air onboard the KC-30 A Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft.
As an Air Force Officer, you'll also be trained to become an inspirational leader and mentor, equipped with highly sought-after management skills.

Location Following training, you may be posted to one of the major Air Force bases around Australia, such as RAAF Base Amberley, Williamtown, or Edinburgh.
