Identified as the most livable LGA in Tasmania in a recent Australian Livability Census, a fabulous opportunity now exists to lead Tasmania's Central Coast Council as their new Chief Executive Officer.
Situated in the north-west of Tasmania and with its main towns of Ulverstone and Penguin, Central Coast is home to over 23,000 people.
From its northern beaches the boundary extends southward through fertile countryside to the rugged Leven Canyon and the Black Bluff Mountain range - boasting snow-capped peaks in the depths of winter - the Central Coast region is a vibrant, thriving community.
The Role This is a unique opportunity in a unique lifestyle location.
The role of Chief Executive Officer supports councillors, staff and the community in developing and delivering a clear vision for a vibrant and sustainable Central Coast region.
This role will embed a culture of continuous improvement in the organisation and will provide leadership, foster and drive local economic development at every opportunity, and demonstrate a commitment for the Central Coast region, its people and the future.
Functionally, the role of Chief Executive Officer exercises overall responsibility for the operations of Council as laid out and in compliance with the Local Government Act 1993 (Tas).
As such, the role supports the development and implementation of Council's overall strategy including the development of policy, oversight of financial management of the Council together with communication and promotion of Council's policies and procedures to the community.

A highly regarded leader of people, you will have a history of leading organisations and communities through periods of growth and change, building cultures that both you and the organisation are proud of and being firmly focused on outcomes.
As would be expected of such a role, highly developed communication and advocacy skills are essential, as is the ability to develop effective partnerships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholder groups.
Familiarity with relevant legislation within the Local Government context is preferable but not essential, as is knowledge and understanding of the changing social, political, and economic issues facing the local government sector.
Lastly, the position will suit an individual who is passionate about community and people leadership and who has a strong sense of integrity and ownership.
Tasmania's Central Coast region is continuing a path of growth and change of which the Chief Executive Officer will play a pivotal role.
