Doveton College has become a model for community-based, inclusive education across multiple sites in Victoria.The College supports children, young people, and adults, providing high-quality teaching and learning programs from ages 0 to 15, alongside additional learning opportunities for parents and community members.
The College is a vibrant learning hub with approximately 100 children in the Early Learning Centre, over 600 students in Foundation to Year 9, and numerous participants in adult education courses.The community expects the College to provide a safe and secure environment where students can learn and develop to their full potential.
There is a commitment to student growth, a rigorous curricula, and partnerships with parents and the community.Selection CriteriaSC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills and respond to student learning needs.SC2: Experience in planning and implementing high-impact teaching strategies, guided by student learning, and evaluating the impact of learning programs on student growth.SC3: Experience in monitoring and assessing student learning and using data to inform teaching practice and provide feedback to students and parents.SC4: Interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in establishing collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the community.SC5: Behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, with experience in reflecting on practice and engaging in professional learning.SC6: Understanding of trauma-informed practice and the ability to cater for students with diverse trauma backgrounds and educational needs.RoleThe classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges—range 1 and range 2.
The primary focus is on planning, preparation, and teaching to achieve specific student outcomes.
Classroom teachers engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve their knowledge and skills.Range 2 classroom teachers assist the school in improving student performance and educational outcomes, contributing to the development and implementation of school policies.Range 1 classroom teachers focus on developing skills with structured support, teaching various students/classes, and participating in policy development and co-curricular activities.ResponsibilitiesThe role may include but is not limited to:Direct teaching of groups and individual students;Contributing to curriculum development and evaluation;Undertaking other teaching-related and organizational duties;Participating in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps, and excursions;Undertaking non-teaching supervisory duties.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum area(s).EEO AND OHS CommitmentApplicants seeking part-time employment are encouraged to apply.
