Envisioning new technologies that are still waiting to be invented and reimagining products that support our customers and help build Australia's future economy.The role of Platform Engineers is to design, build, run and evolve tools, infrastructure, templates and capabilities to deliver business value, and write code to drive automation in running our infrastructure and environments.
See yourself in our team.This role will see you join the Advanced Analytics Systems Platform Chapter, a part of the Group's wider Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO).
We deliver cutting-edge solutions and capabilities across product and platform engineering with a key focus on cloud offerings, specifically in AWS and Azure.Collaboratively, we work with customer facing products to design, build, and run 'platforms' to deliver customer value at greater quality, velocity, and safety.
Key Responsibilities: Collaboratively work with customer facing product engineers to design, build and run 'platforms' that they can use to deliver customer value at greater quality, velocity, and safety.Write software and tooling that automates the operations of our platforms, infrastructure, environments, and tooling.Create a standardised set of tooling for deploying and running applications and fitting them with best practices.Maintain the underlying infrastructure to ensure that it is reliable, secure and scalable.Make all platforms entirely self-service, secure, and available within minutes without human approval.Ensure that our platforms are loved by our software engineers, and continually evolve our platforms to embrace new technology and improve the happiness and efficiency of our software engineers.Write software to ensure that all deployment and operations is as automated as possible, using languages such as python and go, and automate implementation of controls into our platforms.Participate in cross-group activities to build a culture of one team, bar-raising both our engineering capability and our technology solutions to drive our strategy.We're interested in hearing from people who: Previous experience as a Platform Engineer, SRE and or Software Engineering driving, developing and automation platform solutions.Are familiar with the full cycle model, where engineers are involved in design, build, run, and evolve of complex platform solutions.Have a passion for designing, developing, deploying and running high quality software and platforms.Contribute to a culture where quality, inclusiveness and excellence are championed.Have a natural drive to educate, communicate and positively influence various stakeholder groups including high level executives.Tech Skills:We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks.
We don't expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team:
Container technology: Docker and Kubernetes/EKS.Programming in Golang or Python.Experience working with CI/CD (Codebuild, GitOps/ArgoCD).Infrastructure as Code (Cloudformation, Terraform, Pulumi) highly regarded.Understanding of DevOps/SRE Best Practices: Logging, Monitoring, Security.Be able to communicate ideas clearly and effectively.Whether you're passionate about customer service, driven by data, or called by creativity, a career here is for you.
