We have a reputation for being ethical and values focused, a socially responsible business that actively gives back to the communities we work and live in.We have a great opportunity for an experienced and proactive Health, Safety and Environment Officer to lead the safety function for our growing team. This is a key hands-on operational and strategic role responsible for driving best practice HSE throughout the Bridgeman construction and manufacturing businesses, driving the implementation of our HSE strategy and system, and providing support to employees performing high-risk activities across our factories, offices and sites.A key component of this hands-on role is the education, coaching, and development of employees to understand their workplace health and safety obligations.Key tasks & responsibilities will include:Working collaboratively with stakeholders to drive consistent safe work practices on all Bridgeman sites/offices.Developing best practice in HSE matters across the business through inspection, audit, investigation and corrective action.Identifying improvements in HSE policies, practices and standards.Implementing, assessing and maintaining a comprehensive health and safety management system.Implementing and maintaining ISO systems, relevant accreditations and certifications.Developing health and safety change initiatives to support the business operational objectives.Partnering with all areas of the business to facilitate positive safety behaviours.Development and delivery of safety training programs and initiatives as required.Travel to project sites and between Bridgeman facilities to provide safety support and leadership.About YouOur ideal candidate will have:Energy and experience but also new ideas, innovation and a growth mindset - a passion for workplace safety and a proven ability to identify and drive continuous improvement.Prior experience as a Senior Safety Advisor/Safety Officer in a manufacturing and/or construction environment.Qualifications in workplace health and safety.Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.A robust knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations and standards, and experience advising and guiding managers and employees on best practice.A team-focus, be self-motivated and get great results via effective prioritisation of tasks and time management.A strong sense of purpose, integrity and community focus - aligning with our company values and ethos.Previous experience delivering small group training sessions or briefings.The BenefitsAn opportunity to take the lead to identify and implement effective systems and work practices.A competitive salary package commensurate with experience.Commitment to the health and well-being of all employees, including a supportive EAP program.Reward and recognition including annual Employee Awards.Opportunity to be part of a culture that values equality, inclusion and flexibility.Opportunity to work across multiple industries (manufacturing as well as construction).Mentoring, career development and growth opportunities.As an Indigenous owned and operated and Supply Nation certified company, Bridgeman is committed to ensuring that we provide leadership, support, opportunity and encouragement to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
