Volunteer Board Member - Marketing & Communications The Sister2sister Foundation (S2SF) is a not-for-profit community organisation that aims to support and inspire the empowerment of adolescent girls to deal with today and get ready for tomorrow.
We do this by providing programs focused on providing individual support, connection, care, and a nurturing community for adolescent girls facing complex challenges.
S2SF offers mentoring, youth support and psychoeducation for young girls through our flagship programs:
The SISTER2sister Mentoring Program is an evidence-based and trauma-informed youth development program that provides structured mentoring, psychoeducational workshops, and welfare support to vulnerable adolescent girls (Little Sisters) aged 12-18 years from across Greater Sydney.
Little Sisters are matched with fully trained mentors (Big Sisters) who are positive and reliable role models.
NL4G is a School Workshop Series for Year 7 students, designed to empower young women by increasing their resilience, emotional regulation, and wellbeing, and creating a solid foundation for personal growth.
Our delivery of these programs is reliant on funding from corporate partnerships, grants and donations.
Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and creative Volunteer Board Member to join our team with a focus on Marketing and Communications .
As a member of the Board of Directors, you will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the organization's marketing and communications efforts.
This position is ideal for someone with experience in marketing, branding, public relations, or digital media, who is passionate about supporting adolescent girls and helping us grow our presence and impact.
Responsibilities
Strategic Oversight : Collaborate with the board and volunteer team to develop and implement the foundation's marketing strategy, ensuring alignment with overall values and mission.
Brand Management : Advise on maintaining and enhancing the organization's brand identity, ensuring consistency across all communication channels and materials.
Campaign Planning : Assist in the design and execution of marketing campaigns that promote the organization's programs, events, and initiatives, both online and offline.
Digital Presence : Provide guidance on the development and optimization of the organization's website, social media platforms, email marketing, and other digital channels.
Media Relations : Support the creation of press releases, media pitches, and other communications materials to strengthen relationships with media outlets and increase media coverage.
Content Creation : Offer insight and feedback on content creation (blogs, newsletters, promotional materials, etc.
), ensuring it resonates with target audiences and reinforces the organization's mission.
Evaluation & Reporting : Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of marketing strategies and communications efforts, providing input on improvements and metrics to track success.
Fundraising & Advocacy : Contribute to the development of marketing materials for fundraising initiatives, and support advocacy efforts to increase community engagement and donations.
Qualifications
Proven experience in marketing, communications, or related fields, preferably in a nonprofit or volunteer setting.
Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media platforms, website management, and content creation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
Creative, strategic thinker who can contribute fresh ideas to the organization's outreach efforts.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and engage with diverse stakeholders.
A passion for the organization's mission and a commitment to supporting its growth and visibility.
Currently, the Board Commitments are 3-4 hours a month.
The operational commitments will vary but are initially estimated to be between 5-10 hours per week.
