Select Plant Australia is one of the largest Specialist Plant Hire service providers in Australia, playing an integral role in the delivery of a wide variety of innovative, high-quality construction projects as part of the Laing O'Rourke Group.
Our primary driver is to guarantee the provision of the highest quality plant and associated services to Laing O'Rourke construction projects and the wider market.
Select Plant Australia provides a full service offering through its seven major categories: Cranes and Lifting Solutions, General Plant, Heavy Plant, Site Solutions (Buildings and Accommodation), Specialist Rail, Sustainability and Innovation, and Vehicles.
As Laing O'Rourke has grown into a $6 billion engineering enterprise dedicated to challenging and changing the face of construction worldwide, Select Plant Australia has mirrored the growth of the parent company, servicing a larger portfolio of projects, both in numbers and complexity.
Select Plant Australia is the only total solutions provider within the plant industry and continues to grow and maintain one of the broadest plant ranges and capabilities within its global markets.
About the role
As the Health and Safety Leader for Select Plant Australia, your primary responsibility will be to lead and oversee all aspects of Health and Safety across the business unit nationally.
You will be instrumental in driving a positive HSE culture, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and company procedures, and furthering our journey towards contemporary safety principles.
Key responsibilities
Develop, implement and improve the HSE framework for the business operations.
Governance of Environmental performance.
Provide strategic leadership for HSE initiatives across operations and functional teams.
Co-ordinate and manage external certification process including the audit process and embedding any continuous improvements identified.
Develop and update Select-specific HSE procedures and forms based on operational requirements.
Review and provide input into work method statements, scopes of work, and work packs to capture all HSE requirements and deliverables.
Facilitate or support operational personnel in incident investigations, including Class 1 events, ensuring thoroughness and appropriateness of root cause corrective actions.
Foster a culture of respect for the environment and communities in which we work to minimise impacts.
Further responsibilities for health and safety, environment and rail safety as specified in the relevant project-specific management plans.
About you
Significant experience in HSE management with a track record of driving meaningful change in safety performance, within the equipment/plant hire or related industries.
Strong understanding of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices.
ICAM or equivalent investigation training.
Lead Auditor Training.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
