The Parklife Metro Consortium is working on an exciting new metro rail infrastructure project in Greater Western Sydney.
This city shaping project, which will be delivered under a Public Private Partnership, will provide a major economic stimulus for Western Sydney.
WeBuild, as a D&C Contractor member, will be responsible for the successful delivery of the design and construction elements of the project, and we are currently looking to appoint a Mechanical Project Engineer MEP.
Role Overview:The MEP Mechanical Project Engineer will oversee the mechanical engineering aspects of the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems of the SSTOM project.
This role requires managing the design, installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems to ensure they meet safety, quality, budget, and schedule requirements.
Key Responsibilities:Project Planning & Design Coordination:Review and ensure mechanical system designs align with project specifications, standards, and codes.Collaborate with design teams, consultants, and contractors to optimize the mechanical solutions.Coordinate MEP services with civil and structural design teams to avoid conflicts during construction.Construction Management:Supervise the installation of mechanical systems, including HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, and ventilation in accordance with approved designs and project timelines.Perform regular site inspections and quality control checks on mechanical works.Ensure safety standards and regulations are adhered to during the execution of works.Procurement & Materials Management:Assist in the selection of mechanical equipment and materials in line with the project requirements.Manage the procurement process, ensuring timely delivery of materials and adherence to specifications.Stakeholder Coordination:Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to resolve any technical issues that may arise during the construction phase.Attend regular project meetings to report on the status of mechanical works, challenges, and solutions.Documentation & Compliance:Prepare and review mechanical engineering documents, including technical reports, method statements, and risk assessments.Ensure all work complies with local regulatory and safety standards, including environmental and energy efficiency guidelines.Project Cost & Time Management:Monitor mechanical project expenditures to ensure alignment with budget allocations.Track progress of mechanical works, identify potential delays, and implement corrective actions to maintain project schedules.Qualifications & Experience:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, particularly within the rail, infrastructure, or large-scale construction projects.Solid understanding of MEP systems, including HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, and ventilation.Familiarity with relevant codes and standards, such as ASHRAE, CIBSE, and local building regulations.Proven experience in managing the mechanical scope of large, multidisciplinary projects.Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or similar design and drafting software.Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.Desirable:Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional qualification.Experience in BIM (Building Information Modelling) environments.Experience with railway infrastructure projects, including stations, depots, or tunnels.How to Apply:Please submit your most recent resume.
