Location ProfileSydenham-Hillside Primary School is a dual campus Prep to Grade Six Primary School, located in the Western suburbs of Melbourne. There are approximately 600 students at the Sydenham Campus and approximately 500 at the Hillside Campus. The Sydenham Campus has 24 classrooms and is staffed by approximately 50 teaching, administrative and support staff. The Hillside Campus has 19 classrooms and is staffed by approximately 40 staff.
The two campuses are four kilometres apart with Sydenham located in the Brimbank LGA and Hillside located within the Melton LGA.
We are a dual campus school that works as one community striving to develop resilient, kind and inclusive students who value their education. We aim to empower all students to follow their life passions and become successful life-long learners.
Our whole school values of Learning, Responsibility, Respect and Safety guide all of our work. Through a commitment to our values we are able to create a safe and inclusive environment enabling all students to flourish as individuals.
In the classroom our teaching staff provide a comprehensive curriculum with a strong focus on the key building blocks of Literacy and Numeracy. Our teachers work diligently in year level Professional Learning Communities and use data to understand the point of need for each student and then develop plans to target that point of need. Outside of the classroom we provide many extra-curricular activities that support the development of the whole child and also bring the community together which is something that we value very much.
A key feature of the Sydenham-Hillside Primary School Community is the positive relationships between the school and our families which are based on clear and open communication processes. We encourage families to be involved in their child's education and provide many opportunities for this to take place including but not limited to family information sessions, parent-teacher-student interviews and volunteering possibilities.
We look forward to developing a strong and effective partnership with families that strengthens each child's learning capabilities.
Open communication is one of our aims and we have established an excellent reputation across the wider community for our inclusive communication practices.
Sydenham-Hillside Primary School has a great deal to offer, with a strong focus on Literacy, Numeracy, and ICT. We also work to create supportive learning environments that cater for the differing needs of all students.
Sydenham-Hillside Primary School's strategic plan has a series of goals and targets embedded into the document that provides a very clear outline of our intentions to create a place of excellence, where learning is for all, and students are encouraged to succeed and achieve their best.
