Location ProfileDoveton College is a unique, diverse and vibrant learning community located in the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
It supports young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, including high migrant and refugee groups, through a community-based, inclusive model.
Doveton College serves approximately 100 children in the Early Learning Centre, more than 600 students in Foundation to Year 9, along with adult education courses.
The College focuses on providing high-quality teaching and learning programs, along with wrap-around educational and allied health support.
Selection CriteriaKSC 1: Demonstrated highly developed skills when working with primary and secondary-aged children.
KSC 2: Demonstrated knowledge of trauma symptomology, child/adolescent development, family systems, and abuse/neglect.
KSC 3: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
KSC 4: Experience in developing and implementing programs that foster resilience in children and young people.
KSC 5: Demonstrated experience in facilitating group programs.
RoleThe Student Wellbeing Youth Worker (0.6 EFT) at Doveton College supports students aged between Prep and Year 9 with targeted therapeutic goals to assist in their engagement in education.
An integral component of this role includes:
Group work facilitation and program developmentYouth EngagementMentoring and SupportThe Youth Worker will also contribute to the development of high-quality interventions and programs that promote wellbeing and engagement throughout the College.
ResponsibilitiesSpecific Duties & Responsibilities: Group Facilitation:Plan, organize, and facilitate group activities aimed at promoting teamwork and personal growth.Create a supportive atmosphere for participants to express themselves.Contribute to the design of group programs that align with the organization's mission.Assess the effectiveness of programs and suggest improvements.Youth Engagement:Build trusting relationships with youth participants.Develop strategies to involve young people in planning group activities.Provide individualized, goal-focused care to students' mental health.Communicate with teachers to identify strategies for student benefit.Facilitate support for students with specific needs.Mentorship and Support:Provide individualized support and guidance to youth.Collaborate with other staff to address diverse participant needs.Documentation and Reporting:Complete accurate case notes as per the Doveton College Case Note Policy.Prepare reports for program evaluation.Report concerns to relevant external services.Attend required meetings and provide staff training as needed.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience, and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.
