Join Tritium and be a part of the transformation in the EV charging industry.About the roleThis position reports directly to the Head of Onboard Software at Tritium and is based in Brisbane,Australia.As part of the Onboard Software team and part of the wider engineering division you will deliversoftware solutions that enhance the performance and functionality or our high-power chargingsystems, primarily in the areas of software performance and network security. The SoftwareDevelopment Engineer role requires a candidate who has experience of working in complexEngineering programmes across the functional boundaries of technical disciplines in an environmentwith often competing deliverables, priorities and levels of ambiguity.Key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:Contribute to the design and development of innovative, modular, and maintainablesoftware/firmware products for embedded systems.Assist in improving existing solutions for onboard charger software, network security,credential management, etc.Share knowledge and expertise within the team through code reviews and implementation ofautomated analysis tools.Follow Agile Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices and actively participate inrelevant events and ceremonies (Daily stand-ups, Sprint Review, Sprint planning, SprintRetrospective, etc).Engage in various aspects of the software development life cycle, including scope definition,documentation, troubleshooting, testing, and showcasing.Design software with reusability in mind across multiple platforms, and standardize softwaremodules where feasible.Analyse system specifications and translate system requirements into task specificationsSupport field issue investigation and troubleshooting activities, including remote support forcustomer test sessions.Provide creative solutions for technology challenges.Stay current with new and developing software technologies and assist in assessing thefeasibility of implementing new technologies.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products.Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Assist in the selection or development of hardware platforms for control and communicationsystems.Generate documentation to support testing and compliance certification activities.Contribute to the growth of the business reputation and act promptly to uphold the businessreputation.Assist other areas of the business when required or as directed by any member of the SeniorLeadership Team.Stay up-to-date with state-of-the-art technologies, tools, and techniques for automation,quality, and security as applied to software development.Work within ISO9001 Quality standards.Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulationsAdhere to the company's Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policy and proceduresAbout YouEducational and Work Experience Requirements:Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software/Electronics Engineering, or a related technology fieldUp to 5 years of experience in embedded software development, preferably in C++ and/or Python on Linux platformsProven track record in developing software solutions for remotely monitored and controlled devices, ideally within complex public infrastructuresExperience with hardware-software integration, particularly on embedded devices.Operating System, Networking and Protocol Expertise:Proficiency in Linux system management, including shell (bash) scripting and tools like AnsibleStrong grasp of IoT technologies and protocols – MQTT, HTTP, TCP/IP, CAN bus protocolExperience with Cryptography (TLS 1.2), TCP/UDP, x509 certificates management, and Over the Air updatesFamiliarity with asynchronous programming patterns (e.g., epoll in Linux, asyncio in Python)Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) for embedded systemsSoftware Development Practices and Tools:Knowledge of testing methodologies and frameworks, like unit testing, integration testing, and test-driven developmentExtensive experience with source code version control systems, particularly Git (GitHub/Bitbucket/etc.)Experience with CI/CD tools such as Bitbucket Pipelines, Azure DevOps, or JenkinsKnowledge of Agile and DevOps methodologies, with a focus on automation, quality assurance, and security in software developmentExperience with containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and KubernetesTechnical Documentation and Communication Skills:Ability to produce clear and comprehensive technical documentation, including design specs, processes, and proceduresStrong communication skills with attention to detailAnalytical and Problem-Solving Skills:Strong problem-solving skills, including excellent analytical and critical thinking abilitiesProven debugging capabilities within complex software systemsTeamwork and Self-Management:Ability to work effectively in an Agile/Scrum team environment and independently manage tasksAdaptability to shifting priorities and deadlinesCapacity to consistently deliver high-quality work with minimal supervision; self-motivatedWhat's on offerOur people are our most important asset.
