The opportunity Due to an influx in workload, the Technology and Analytics capability within Lewis Woolcott is seeking to grow its talented team of experts with an additional Data Engineer to be based in our Brisbane office, but may involve travel to any of our Sydney, Perth or Melbourne offices.
This role will involve working on a number of ongoing high profile projects across Australia and Internationally.
We implement platforms that support information-driven strategies and systems using Geo Spatial mapping to help optimise and protect client organizations.
With a growing team of GIS Developers, Software Developers, Data Scientists, Machine Learning Specialists, and Analytics Professionals, Lewis Woolcott is devoted to helping its clients become truly Data Driven and digital in an ever changing, ever progressing world.
Key Responsibilities: Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain efficient ETL pipelines to collect, clean, and organize data from various sources.Data Modeling: Develop robust data models in Power BI, including star and snowflake schema design, to ensure efficient data querying and reporting.Data Integration: Connect Power BI to various data sources like SQL databases, cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS), APIs, and Excel files.Dashboard Development: Create dynamic, user-friendly Power BI reports and dashboards, offering actionable insights to support decision-making.Performance Tuning: Optimize data models, queries, and Power BI performance for faster load times and efficient memory usage.Data Governance: Implement and enforce data quality standards, governance, and best practices.Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, data scientists, and IT, to understand business requirements and ensure accurate data reporting.Automation & Scheduling: Automate data refresh and ensure Power BI dashboards are up-to-date with the latest data.Documentation: Maintain clear documentation for data workflows, models, and processes.Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.Proven experience as a Data Engineer with a focus on Power BI.Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).Experience with ETL tools and data pipeline technologies (e.g., SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Apache Spark).Expertise in Power BI, including data visualization, DAX, and Power Query.Knowledge of data modeling techniques and best practices in data warehousing.Strong programming skills in Python or R are a plus.Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools.Preferred Skills: Understanding of big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).Experience with data security and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).Power BI Embedded Services and advanced customization capabilities.Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.Detail-oriented with a focus on data accuracy and quality.Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.What We Offer Continuous learning to develop the mindset, skills, and experience of its people so they can navigate whatever comes nextBroad Technology exposure to help their people to develop into the experts they have always strived to becomeAn inclusive approach to planning and development to ensure their people can help guide the products they work so hard to developProvide a safe and diverse work environment where their people will feel valued, appreciated, and respected for who they areLewis Woolcott strives to adopt an environment where individuals are diversely respected.
