We're looking for a Marine Electrician to join our shore-side team on a permanent, full-time basis.
If you're a skilled electrician with experience in marine electrical systems, this Monday to Friday role offers the opportunity to support our Port Botany and Port Jackson harbour towage operations, using your expertise to keep our vessels safe and compliant.
What You Can Look Forward ToIn this role, you'll take the lead on maintaining, repairing, installing, and testing electrical systems on our vessels, with the independence and autonomy to apply best practices and uphold electrical compliance standards.
Your expertise will directly contribute to delivering high-quality service to our clients.
What You Will DoReporting to the Port Manager, your key responsibilities will include:
Conduct thorough inspections and performance tests on electrical systems, equipment, and partsRun diagnostics, identify root causes of electrical faults, and apply effective repair solutionsPerform routine and scheduled annual maintenance on a variety of electrical equipment across our fleet and shore-side assetsSource essential electrical components and manage inventory, including coordinating the installation of new or replacement parts to maintain optimal asset performanceEstablish and maintain relationships with electrical suppliers to secure reliable support and efficient delivery of materials needed for operationsPartner with vessel crew, OEMs, and marine specialists to address electrical maintenance and repair needs, providing technical expertise to ensure high standardsOversee contractors by issuing work permits, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring all work meets safety standards and complianceMaintain compliance with AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules and ensure all work is conducted in line with legislation, regulations, and conventionsWhat You Will Need to SucceedTo thrive in this role, you should demonstrate:
Experience in a similar role within the maritime industry, with a strong understanding of marine operations and electrical needsCertificate III in Electrotechnology (NSW Electrical License) is essential, while a Certificate IV in Hazardous Areas - Electrical (EEHA) would be highly regardedIn-depth knowledge of various marine electrical systems, including vessel automation, propulsion, and winch hydraulicsSelf-motivation and a proactive approach, with the ability to work unsupervised while effectively managing your responsibilitiesStrong skills in fault-finding, diagnostics, and troubleshooting, essential for resolving complex technical issues efficientlyWillingness to travel between operational sites to provide hands-on support as neededValid working rights for AustraliaIf you share our excitement for the journey ahead and would like to work with leaders in the industry, we can't wait to hear from you
