Staff Specialist (General Surgery) (600481) Department of Health Hospitals & Primary Care - Hospitals Sth Hospitals Sth - Surgical & Periop Servs Applications must be submitted by Sunday 02 February, 2025 11:55 PM AEST Award/Classification: Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022, Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1-11 Employment type: Part Time Region: South Location: General Surgery RHH The Department of Health is seeking interest from suitably qualified General Surgeons with sub-specialty experience in Upper Gastrointestinal, Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary, and/or Bariatric Surgery for a Staff Specialist (General Surgery) vacancy.
This role has been established to improve the delivery of UGI, HPB, and Bariatric surgical services.
The clinical work in this role will involve outpatient and elective services in the relevant specialty and sub-specialty fields, as well as acute/emergency cases as part of the Department of General Surgery's Emergency Surgical Unit (ESU).
The successful candidate would also be involved in training of registrars, junior medical officers, and students.
There are also opportunities to be involved with other teaching, research, and administrative activities.

In the role Staff Specialist – General Surgery you will: Provide quality specialist and sub-specialty services in inpatient and outpatient settings to public and private patients of the Royal Hobart Hospital.
Be involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
Be actively involved in research.
Undertake quality improvement activities.

Details of Appointment Permanent, part-time - hours to be negotiated.
Day work (with on-call), commencing as soon as possible.
Minimum Requirements: Holds specialist registration; or Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) on the specialist pathway.
Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an IMG with a recognised overseas specialist qualification and sufficient experience in the speciality.
