Casual Dental Hygienist

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated, Casual Dental Hygienist to join our team in Holtze. The ideal candidate will be proficient in routine dental hygiene treatments, including impression taking, root planing, and implant maintenance, as well as various administrative tasks related to patient care and clinic management.
About Us
ADF Health Services provides integrated healthcare services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel across Australia. As part of this contract, Serco, in partnership with Bupa, provide defence-ready clinical and support staff across 50+ on-base locations nationally, ensuring that ADF personnel have access to quality on-site medical care.
About The Role
As the Dental Hygienist, you will be responsible for the day-to-day provision of quality oral hygiene advice and dental hygiene services to eligible personnel in accordance with Defence Policies and Procedures.
Perform routine dental hygiene treatments as prescribed, including impression taking, root planing, and implant maintenance. Conduct dental periodontal charting, examinations, reviews, and referrals. Promote and maintain oral health among patients. Take dental intra-oral/extra-oral radiographs as prescribed. Administer local anaesthetics as prescribed and where registered. Assist dental practitioners and specialists during operative procedures when required. Implement infection control procedures within the dental surgery in accordance with National Standards and Defence Policies and Procedures. Take impressions for mouthguards and issue mouthguards as prescribed. Pour dental models as directed. Maintain optimal hygiene and cleanliness of the dental surgery. Manage patients in accordance with approved protocols. Provide clinical or technical advice to JHC as required. Manage patient clinical records, filing of hard copy reports, and booking and recall of patients. Manage relevant patient clinics as required (e.g., pre-admission clinics, vaccination clinics). Participate in governance and quality improvement activities, including clinical reviews, health surveillance, and auditing. Order and maintain clinical stores and pharmaceutical supplies. Perform regular checks, calibration, and maintenance of clinical equipment. Act as a Supply Customer Account Manager as defined in the Defence Electronic Supply Chain Manual. The Location
The Robertson Health Centre is located on Robertson Barracks in Holtze, 15 km east of the city of Darwin. The facility has a routine dependency of approximately 2,800 defence staff, with a large reserve component. The Barracks also accommodates an additional 2,500 US marines every 6 months from May to September. The health centre provides primary medical, pharmaceutical, dental, physiotherapy, and mental health services, and operates a 22-bed 24/7 ward. Standard operating hours are 0730-1530, Monday-Friday.
About You
As the ideal applicant you will have:
A degree or diploma in Dental Hygiene. A current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Dental Hygienist or Oral Health Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Experience in routine dental hygiene treatments and administrative tasks. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care within a dental surgery setting. Australian Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Defence security clearance. Rewards & Benefits
