Land and Groundwater Contamination Specialist Location: Parramatta
Role Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced contaminated land and groundwater professional to provide expert advice to support acquisition, divestment, operations, and optimization of Sydney Water land.
The role works collaboratively across Sydney Water and throughout our area of operations, supporting our growing capital investment program ($34 billion) and ongoing due diligence and long-term management of contamination risks across Sydney Water's large land portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage internal and external stakeholder expectations on sensitive contamination issues.
Stay informed on legislative requirements, technology, and initiatives relevant to our business.
Balance competing priorities in a high-volume work environment.
Lead technical projects and support prevailing business needs to achieve efficient outcomes.
Qualifications:
7-10 years of experience in investigating, assessing, and managing contaminated land and groundwater issues.
Sound technical judgment and ability to cultivate productive working relationships.
Exemplary communication and stakeholder management skills to convey complex environmental information to non-technical audiences.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make risk-based decisions on complex environmental matters.
Strong commercial acumen in decision-making and advice on contaminated land management.
Contribute to project risk workshops as the contamination subject matter expert.
