Organisation Overview QAIHC is a non-partisan peak organisation representing all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) across Queensland at both state and national level. Our members deliver comprehensive and culturally appropriate, world-class primary health care services to their communities. QAIHC was established in 1990. Our vision is the elimination of disparities in health and wellbeing experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Queensland. QAIHC contributes to this vision by leading the development of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Sector in Queensland through evidence-based, practical public policy solutions.
About this Role As Senior Policy Officer, Policy, Advocacy, Leadership and Strategy, you will provide best practice policy advice to identify, develop and advocate for integrated policies, legislation, and programs to benefit QAIHC member organisations to improve the health and wellbeing of Queensland's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Key responsibilities Provide high-level advice on system-wide policy matters relating to the community-controlled health sector, including interpretation of legislation, industrial instruments, policies, systems and practices.Develop, implement and evaluate QAIHC policy and related documentation, informed by sound research and analysis.Prepare timely and well-researched submissions, briefs, reports and correspondence on complex issues, to inform QAIHC's advocacy to Federal and State governments on behalf of the community-controlled health sector.Participate in and/or coordinate aspects of projects to successfully formulate innovative and workable policy options and solutions.Build and maintain productive and collaborative working relationships with government departments, the community-controlled health sector and other agencies.The core capability requirements for this role are:Leads strategicallyThinks critically and acts on the broader purpose of the system and community-controlled sector.Makes considered, ethical and courageous decisions based on insight into the broader context.Builds and sustains relationships to enable the collaborative delivery of customer-focused outcomes.Drives accountability and outcomesDemonstrates accountability for the execution and quality of results through professionalism, persistence, and transparency.Demonstrates sound governanceMaintains a high standard of practice through governance and risk management.Interested in joining us?
