The National Firearm Identification Database (NFID) is central to the Australian Government's firearms intelligence ecosystem.
It supports consistency in firearm identification during registration, lawful import/export and lawful destruction.
About the Role
The occupant of this position requires a strong knowledge of both the Australian and international firearm industry and firearm identification for the purpose of developing and maintaining the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission's (ACIC) hosted firearm management systems, specifically the National Firearm Register (NFR) and the National Firearm Identification Database (NFID).
The role requires professional engagement with industry participants, both nationally and internationally, firearm collector groups, firearm dealers, and licenced firearm owners.
This engagement requires a demonstrated high level of management, communication, and firearm research skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain the National Firearm Register (NFR).
Engage with various stakeholders including industry participants and firearm owners.
Conduct research on firearm identification and management.
Ensure compliance with Australian firearm regulations.
