We have an exciting leadership opportunity for a Projects Engineering Lead to join our team in Brisbane or Melbourne on a full-time permanent basis.
Reporting to the Manager - Projects Engineering, you will be responsible for driving engineering delivery excellence to support APA's growth strategy in gas transmission.
You will lead the engineering delivery for a portfolio of projects, ensuring that solutions meet business objectives, operational requirements, and compliance with statutory and regulatory standards.
As a key leader, you will play a pivotal role in managing engineering teams, optimising project performance, and maintaining rigorous cost and resource controls.
Your expertise will support the successful delivery of world-class engineering projects, including natural gas, hydrogen, CO2 -ready pipelines, and compression infrastructure.
This role is integral to APA's growth strategy and Australia's energy transition.
In addition, you will be accountable for engineering project controls across the entire program of engineering projects.
To succeed, you must demonstrate a proven track record in overseeing the development and maintenance of engineering schedules, implementing cost performance controls, managing stakeholder engagement, and steering projects from FEED design through to delivery and operational handover.
Key Accountabilities Oversee a multidisciplinary team of engineers, working closely with Project Managers, design teams, operations, service providers, and contractors to achieve project objectives.Drive effective cost control and resource allocation through detailed forecasting, budget preparation, and continuous monitoring.Ensure engineering outputs align with project scope, operational needs, and compliance with statutory and APA standards.Monitor project progress, proactively address risks, and resolve issues to maintain budgets, schedules, and engineering quality.Champion smooth transitions between project phases ensuring readiness and continuity.Act as a key leader within the Engineering Delivery team, fostering innovation, continuous improvement, and adherence to best practices.Your Background A tertiary qualification in Engineering that supports corporate membership of Engineers Australia or equivalent experience.Extensive experience in engineering leadership roles, including managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering complex projects.Proven expertise in the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of gas transmission, gas processing, or energy assets.Strong knowledge of Australian codes, statutory requirements, and project cost control methodologies.Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams, manage budgets and schedules, and drive successful project outcomes.Working at APA
