Clinical Coder Permanent Fulltime, Part-Time, or casual opportunity, you choose Join us and we will: Value your strengthsSupport you to learn and growAbout the Role As a clinical coder you will be responsible for abstracting and assigning accurate diagnostic and procedure codes for all inpatient episodes.
You will be supported by the onsite Clinical Coding Educator and work with a highly regarded Clinical Coding Team.
Duties and responsibilities involve but are not limited to: Effectively following-up information that is absent in the medical record or documentation that is ambiguous, requiring further qualification to identify the highest specificity;Liaising with clinical and administrative staff to obtain accurate information to facilitate coding;Participating in regular continuing professional education.About You To thrive in this role, you should be adaptable, possess exceptional interpersonal and organisational skills, and constantly demonstrate courtesy and sensitivity when dealing with patients, the public, and fellow team members.
Clinical Coding qualifications from Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA) or equivalent, or Bachelor of Applied Science (Health Information Management)Sound and updated knowledge of ICD-10-AM 12th edition, National and local coding standards.Good analytical and abstracting skills.Knowledge and understanding of DRG and Casemix.Ability to prioritise tasks and effectively manage time to meet deadlines.Ability and willingness to take on continuing study.2 years and over of experience in abstracting and coding across a wide Casemix.Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and patient Management Systems.Remuneration: Commensurate with experience.
