Location ProfileThank you for your interest in the Multicultural Education Aide - Dari, Hazaragi and Pashtu Languages at Noble Park English Language School.
Our school provides an intensive English language course for newly arrived migrants and refugees from non-English speaking backgrounds in the southeast Victoria region.
The students are introduced to the Victorian education system and assisted with settlement in Victoria.
The curriculum aims to prepare students for life in Australia.
Many students have been displaced by war, economic hardship, or political persecution.
The school is committed to assisting students to regain trust in people and systems and to develop the self-esteem and confidence required to face the challenges of a new country.
Successful applicants must have a valid working with children check (WWCC employee).
Selection CriteriaKey selection criteria Demonstrated ability to communicate in English and the required language(s), Dari, Hazaragi and Pashtu including the ability to accurately translate a range of basic school communications.Demonstrated ability to enhance the school's relationships with the families of the target language group(s).Demonstrated ability to work with students in a classroom setting.Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to take direction and to work as part of a team.RoleAn education support class position will perform tasks in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction.
This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.
A role at this range may include:
Specific support tasks to achieve outcomes.Assisting teachers with specific support tasks.Supervised health and wellbeing support tasks.Technical tasks that require a sound knowledge of basic technical and/or scientific principles.ResponsibilitiesProvides routine support for teachers including assisting with planning of student routines.Supports communication between teachers and parents.Provides basic physical care and wellbeing support for students.Communicates with student/s to support comprehension of basic tasks.Addresses immediate behavioural presentations relating to specific students.Provides basic support and supervision for individuals or groups of up to 4 students.Supports teachers in the coordination of educational programs.Provides medical intervention support to students, under specific conditions.Who May ApplyRequirements No formal qualifications are required.Applicants will need to demonstrate proficiency in communication in English and the nominated language.Applicants will work with students, staff, parents and community members.Strong interpersonal skills and a preparedness to work with a diverse community.Conditions of EmploymentAll staff employed by the Department have access to a broad range of employment conditions.Appointment of successful applicants will be made subject to a satisfactory pre-employment conditions check.A probationary period may apply during the first year of employment.To apply for this role, you will be redirected to the Schools (Government) job application system.
